SRI KAMALAVALLI THAYAR SAMETHA, NEELA MANIKKA SWAMY TEMPLE

NERUMBUR VILLAGE, THIRUKKALUKUNDRAM TALUK, CHENGALPATTU DISTRICT – TAMILNADU – INDIA – 603109

The temple is located on the outskirts of Chennai, near the Mahabalipuram and Kalpakkam region, close to bank of Palar river; about an hour drive. With a history of nearly two thousand years, it is a site where the devas are believed to have attained shapa vimochana (relief – with pooja & yagna) by the blessings of Lord Vishnu. He is said to have appeared before them in a golden form with powerful blue sapphire-like eyes (Neela Manikkam), while Goddess Mahalakshmi resided in his heart (Hridaya Kamalam/ i.e. Kamalavalli). Historically, this area, known as Thondai Mandalam, was ruled successively by the Early Cholas, the Kalabhras, and later the Pallavas kingdoms. https://maps.app.goo.gl/NcmJeiR6UahdwERNA [Temple Map].
